A bent plywood masterpiece, this curved bookcase must be so attractive because of its organic shape. We were instantly drawn to this unexpected object from the Dutch design team Atelier 010. They took two banal items, plywood and bookcase, and created such an original work - the Bookworm. The structure consists of three MDF / plywood parts shaped with custom-made molds, and is assembled on location, to incorporate a place to sit and relax and a light bulb. We really like the Bookworm.

"Classified Moto is a small shop specializing in quirky vintage custom bikes and other unique moto expressions. One of their best sellers is the Classified Moto Lamp made entirely of recycled parts from the company's Richmond, Virginia workshop or rescued from salvage yards. Made from a brake rotor, shock and transmission gear, each lamp is crafted by hand and numbered with engraving available for a small extra charge. The basic design using popular Japanese components starts at $199 USD plus shipping. But if you're feeling extra creative, Classified can custom-build a lamp using the parts of your choice. They have also recently introduced cafe style tables and floor lamps."
Molded plywood never stops to amaze us, and these expressive sculptural forms of the molded plywood chairs and nesting tables from GJ Collection by Lange Production is another great example. Hard to be believe they were originally designed in 1963, by the renown Danish furniture designer Grete Jalk. The laminated GJ chair look so trendy and up to date. Being quite different from other previous experiments focused on moulded plywood, the Lange's GJ Collection has impressed us with its sheer technical daring and organic yet elegant effects. The chair is composed of only 2 conjoined pieces and is available in 2 original wood species - Oregon Pine and Teak. Visit Lange Production for details.

The amazing furniture project PlasticNature shows that it's possible to fuse wood and injection-moulded plastic to create beautiful furniture. The craftsmen at Pelidesign believe that the two worlds "belong together - they are both utilitarian". Incredibly, "the wooden legs actually 'flow' into the seat plank" through the plastic connecting parts. These furniture objects only appear solid - they're actually clung together plastic and wooden pieces, by the means of a join similar to dovetail. PlasticNature doesn't just prove the structure is sound, it also shows the aesthetic harmony between the two materials. Awesome furniture!
